I walk a lot.
I’m a librarian at UIC, where I get to work with their extraordinary collections of Chicago social and political history, and where I had the great honor to work on Explore Chicago Collections. Explore unites the archives and digital collections of libraries, archives and museums throughout Chicago. Oh, and I also put together Mildred’s House of Signage, but it hasn’t been updated in years. I pulled a few favorite images from that site in here, even though they weren’t all strictly gathered on walks.
The images here are largely taken on walks with Forgotten Chicago, Walking Across Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Foundation and my own walks around town and along the Metra lines. I’m grateful to the Walking Across Chicago folks for showing me that I could walk farther than I knew. And always grateful to the CTA for getting me from here to there.
